TRF104 engineering and track intent
The Tamiya 42389 TRF104 is a 1/10 scale Formula One chassis that pairs carbon fibre panels with aluminium components to achieve a stiff yet responsive platform. It is aimed at racers who value detailed setup work and consistent lap times.
Front and rear suspension reworked for better control
The TRF104 sports an updated suspension philosophy on both ends. Up front, adjustable plastic upper A-arms let you set camber from +1 to -3 degrees and apply caster at fixed increments so you can match handling to different asphalt surfaces.
To control roll at the rear, the design replaces traditional T-bars and link arms with ball connectors for a centralised roll arrangement. Roll speed can be tuned with friction grease and dedicated roll dampers, while the FRP suspension plate and TRF damper help absorb track irregularities.
Layout focused on balance and traction
Component placement is central to the TRF104 philosophy. By locating the battery, receiver and servo toward the centre, rear grip is improved and the car resists sudden traction loss during high speed manoeuvres.
Setup range for different driving styles
Adjustment options are extensive: the motor mount lets you alter ride height in 0.8mm increments and pick between two wheelbase settings. The steering geometry can be changed with four linkage configurations to refine response.
The rear differential borrows proven parts from the TRF103 and a slim carbon fibre drive shaft reduces rotating mass, helping durability even with heavier tyres. Dual rear wing mounts give further aerodynamic tuning potential.
