Turn Your Tamiya into a Tracked Trail Runner

Fit the Tamiya 54948 Track Unit Sets to convert compatible Tamiya R/C models into tracked runners for loose terrain. Originating from the Landfreeder QuadTrack concept, the units replace wheels and help machines tackle sand, snow and mud more effectively.

Which Chassis Work With These Units

The track units have been engineered to work with several Tamiya chassis types including CC-01, CC-02, GF-01 (CB, TR), G6-01(TR) and WR-02 (CB). If you plan to fit them to a TT-02, you will also need Item 50354 (16T, 17T Pinion Gear Set) and a CR-Tuned Motor (35T) sold separately.

Pivoting Rollers for Consistent Grip

The design uses a three-sided assembly that pivots on a top-mounted shaft with a sprung third roller to maintain contact over bumps and ruts. This provides improved traction on off-road surfaces while remaining usable on hardpack.

Track Parts and Link Options

Drive is delivered through an upper sprocket linked to the chassis drive shaft, while eight rollers support plastic link-type tracks with soft inserts. Metal link pins secure the sections and you can choose between standard links or grouser-style links to match the running surface.

Yes, the soft-insert link-type tracks provide better flotation and traction on sand compared with standard tyres. Rinse components after salt use to prevent corrosion.
Most compatible chassis accept the units without major cutting, though mounting hardware alignment and spacing checks are recommended during installation.
Grouser links add extra bite on loose or muddy ground, improving climb and braking traction at the cost of slightly more drag.
Inspect link pins and rollers regularly, clean debris from the inserts, and replace worn links or pins to keep smooth operation.
