Classic rally truck styling with modern RTR gear

Off-road fans will recognise the Tamiya 57831 - 1/10 RC RTR XB Montero Wheelie as a compact tribute to rally cross trucks, offering nostalgic lines and practical performance. The model mirrors the look of the Montero/Pajero/Shogun family while keeping setup simple for hobby runs.

Robust box frame and simple suspension

The chassis is a durable box-style frame built to tolerate hard use. With a front swing axle and rear rolling rigid mount the truck delivers predictable handling, and the sealed gearbox reduces maintenance by keeping dust and grit out.

Scale details and practical tyres

Tamiya used injection moulding for a tough body with authentic features like the cargo bed, spare wheel and visible roll cage. The large 115mm tyres help cushion impacts and provide useful ground contact on mixed surfaces.

Out-of-the-box electronics

Comes ready with a pre-installed Finespec 2.4GHz radio, a 540 motor and the TEU-105BK ESC with BEC already fitted. To finish assembly you will need to supply a 7.2 Volt battery pack and charger, plus AA batteries for the transmitter.

The Tamiya 57831 Montero Wheelie is a reliable, low-fuss choice for pilots who value scale detail and simple, enjoyable driving rather than high-end competition upgrades.

The TEU-105BK handles stock 540 motors well and supports basic upgrades, but high-power motors may require an ESC with higher current capacity.
Yes, the injection-moulded shell is robust for regular use, though you should protect exposed corners and check for cracks after heavy impacts.
Packed dirt, gravel tracks and grass are ideal. Soft sand and deep mud will slow it down and may increase maintenance on the gearbox.
Periodically remove debris, check gearbox seals and replace worn gears or grease. Keeping the enclosure clean will extend component life.
