Scaled Tribute to the Ferrari F40

The Ferrari F40 debuted at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show as a milestone supercar celebrating 40 years of Ferrari. The road car used Formula 1 techniques with a tubular steel spaceframe and lightweight Kevlar and carbon fibre panels. Its mid mounted twin turbo 2936cc V8 pushed the original to speeds beyond 320km/h, securing its legendary status.

A Modern Reissue of a Classic Kit

Tamiya's 58356 RC Ferrari F40 is a limited reissue of the classic 1991 kit, updated with a fully finished body. The pre painted polycarbonate shell and applied decals provide an authentic appearance straight from the box for display or running sessions.

Robust Composite Chassis

This 1/10 scale model is built on a composite chassis combining front and rear spaceframes with an ABS resin bathtub superstructure. An FRP plate reinforces the chassis base while the suspension uses a front kingpin coil spring arrangement and a rear T bar paired with CVA oil dampers for reliable handling.

Simple Yet Effective Drivetrain

The drive train employs a direct drive 2WD system that transmits motor power directly to the spur gear and includes a ball differential to improve cornering stability. The finished polycarbonate body is supplied with paint and markings already applied.

Tamiya 58356 RC Ferrari F40 appeals to modellers who value authenticity and easy cosmetic presentation. Its combination of scale detail and a performance oriented platform makes it a satisfying project for experienced enthusiasts.

Assembly time varies with experience but expect several evenings to a weekend for a careful build including painting touch ups and final detailing.
The body is finished but you will need to supply radio gear, motor, battery and charger to make the chassis drive ready.
Enthusiasts often upgrade the motor, steering servo and shocks for sharper on road performance while keeping the stock body for scale appearance.
