Compact Le Mans Replica: Tamiya 58555 Mazda 787B

The Tamiya 58555 captures the spirit of the 1991 Mazda 787B in a 1/12 scale RC kit. Built on the RM-01 chassis, this model pairs classic prototype styling with practical race geometry, featuring a Direct Drive 2WD arrangement and the Pivot Ball Link Rear (PBLR) suspension for dependable road manners.

RM-01 Chassis and Drive Characteristics

The RM-01 platform focuses on on-road performance with a straightforward Direct Drive 2WD setup that yields consistent acceleration. The PBLR suspension helps the car stay planted through corners, making it suitable for club racing and track practice.

Authentic Bodywork and Finish Options

The clear polycarbonate shell mirrors the 787B's profile and is ready for custom painting. Details are faithfully modelled so you can reproduce period liveries or create a fresh scheme, while foam tyres and a solid axle drivetrain give class-appropriate traction.

Build Flexibility and Upgrades

This kit invites hands-on setup work. You will need to source radio gear, a servo, a receiver, and a 3.2V battery. Adjustable ride height and gearing let you dial in handling for different surfaces and driver preference.

good service, good email exchanges, fast shipping
Rules vary by club, but the RM-01 platform with standard motor and tyre choices often fits historic or touring classes. Check your club rules for scale and motor limits.
Regular checks include bearing lubrication, gear mesh inspection and tyre condition. Tighten hardware after the first few runs and recheck setup after any crash.
The kit is designed for a 380-brushed type motor. Converting to brushless requires compatible mounting and an ESC suited to the smaller chassis, so plan spacing and gearing changes accordingly.
