The Monster Beetle has been a go-to for scale fans who like distinctive styling and capable handling. The Tamiya 58672 adapts that heritage into a 1/14 package mounted on the GF-01TR platform, giving hobbyists a nimble trail vehicle with gear-driven 4WD and increased ride height from portal axles.
The GF-01TR uses a central motor placement inside a lightweight monocoque frame and reduction gearing to feed the portal axles. That layout raises ground clearance while maintaining low centre of gravity, and the sealed gearbox helps prevent dust from shortening component life.
The Trail version keeps the Beetle silhouette in red ABS plastic with exaggerated fenders and three auxiliary lights up front. Metal-plated detail parts improve visual scale realism. Its yellow wheels and 115mm hybrid pin spike/lug tyres deliver cushioning and traction across grass, dirt and hardpack. The stock 37.35:1 gearing can be changed to 33.61:1 with an optional pinion for a different balance of torque and speed.
This kit is suited to modders and newcomers who want a compact trail machine with authentic looks and practical off-road mechanics.
