The Supermarine Spitfire is a defining aircraft of World War II aviation, designed by R.J. Mitchell and renowned for its role during the Battle of Britain. The Mk. IX appeared as a counter to the Fw190A and used a Merlin Series 60/70 engine with a two-stage supercharger to enhance its performance at altitude. Its adaptability kept it in service through later stages of the conflict.
The Tamiya 1/32 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc kit is engineered with fine detail and flexible build choices. Model makers can choose among different fuel tanks, intake filters, exhausts, cowling types, wing bulges, wingtips and tail components to match specific historical aircraft.
Included are early and late wheel assemblies, gunsight variations, simulated rubber brake lines and accurately modelled bomb racks. Both closed and open canopy options are provided so you can display the aircraft as parked or in an active scene.
The Mk.IXc kit recreates the Rolls Royce Merlin and the 'C' wing gun arrangement with precision, offering a hands-on link to the aircraft's engineering. Removable thin cowlings fixed by magnets let you examine internal details without forceful disassembly.
