The Mosquito was a standout design from De Havilland, notable for its wooden construction which reduced weight without sacrificing strength. Paired with twin Merlin engines, the aircraft delivered the speed and handling needed for low level strikes, photo reconnaissance and fast bomber sorties.
Despite initial doubts about its wooden build and light defensive armament, the Mosquito's performance quickly silenced critics. The aircraft was adapted into several roles, with the FB Mk.VI configured for attack missions and night-fighter variants fitted with radar and guns to protect against nocturnal threats.
