Tamiya's 1/72 A6M3 Model 32 brings the Hamp variant to life with accurate small scale parts and clear surface detail. The kit is designed for modelers who want a faithful reproduction of this wartime fighter in a compact format.
The Model 32 incorporated the Sakae 21 engine and altered wing planform to improve speed and handling, gaining roughly 11 km/h on top speed but increasing fuel consumption and reducing range by about 1,000 km. Its first flight was recorded on July 15, 1941, and limited numbers entered service with units such as the 2nd Fighter Group around Rabaul and in the Philippines, with only about 343 built.
This 1/72 kit features newly tooled wings, fuselage and engine cowl parts to reflect Model 32 characteristics. The compact scale, plus three decal schemes, makes it easy to present several historical liveries without taking much display space.
