The McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle is a standout in modern fighter history. Making its maiden flight in July 1972, the aircraft uses a pair of Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-100 turbofans to achieve speeds in excess of Mach 2.5. Its armament includes an internal 20mm M-61A-1 rotary cannon and carriage capacity for AIM-9L Sidewinder and AIM-7F Sparrow missiles.
The model evolved from the initial F-15A into the F-15C in 1979 with practical upgrades. A roughly 15 percent boost in internal fuel and the fitment of conformal tanks improved range, while landing gear reinforcement compensated for the additional mass. Those refinements helped maintain the F-15C's air superiority capability.
Tamiya's 1/48 F-15C kit delivers crisp detail and parts engineered for precise assembly. Builders can expect accurate surface detail and the scope for painting and minor modifications to present a museum-style example or a weathered, operational look.
