The Fw190A-3 is a notable World War II fighter designed by Kurt Tank at Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau. Intended to complement the Bf109, the type used a durable BMW 801 radial engine and became known for brisk handling and strong performance in 1941 operations above the Channel.
First deployed in 1941, the A-3 made its mark by matching or surpassing many contemporary fighters. With the BMW 801Dg producing around 1,700hp, it held advantages in speed and climb against early Spitfire marks until later Allied upgrades, and its six-machine-gun fit gave it solid offensive capability.
The 1/48 Tamiya kit recreates the Fw190A-3 with crisp mould lines and well-defined components. It offers parts that reflect the aircrafts engine housing and weapon arrangement, giving modellers a faithful base for painting, weathering and display.
