The Tamiya 61051 kit presents the Gloster Meteor F.1 in 1/48, capturing the key features of this early jet fighter. The model reflects the Meteor's maiden flight on January 12, 1944, and shows the twin Rolls-Royce W.2B/23 engines, the quartet of 20mm cannons and the tricycle undercarriage used on the original aircraft.
In operational service the Meteor F.1 made its mark, notably on August 4, 1944, when Flying Officer Dean downed a V1, demonstrating the new jet's capability. Although later models surpassed the F.1, its role in launching the jet age is clear and makes it a compelling subject for historical model builds.
