The Mitsubishi A6M3/3a Zero holds a key place in Pacific theatre aviation. First fielded as the Model 32 in the summer of 1942, it improved climb and speed at higher altitude but traded off fuel capacity and range. The later Model 22, appearing in 1943, restored endurance with a longer wingspan and better fuel characteristics.
Tamiya's 1/48 kit captures the Mitsubishi A6M3/3a Zero with newly moulded main wings and options to model either A6M3 or A6M3a. The kit supplies photo etched parts for authentic wingtip folding details and includes both seated and standing pilot figures to vary presentation.
The historical significance of the Zero makes this an attractive piece for display. Three marking variants are included, one depicting the aircraft of ace Major Shindo, and modellers can upgrade detail using Tamiya's Mitsubishi A6M Zero Fighter Detail Up Parts Set.
