The Messerschmitt Bf109 is one of the most produced fighters in history, totaling over 30,000 units. The G-6 variant, with about 13,000 produced, addressed evolving aerial threats with the DB605 powerplant. Its twin 13mm MG131 guns produced the familiar "Beule" bulges on the engine cowling, and some G-6s carried 20mm cannon pods beneath the wings to boost armament.
Extensively operated on both eastern and western theatres, the Bf109 G-6 kept the type in frontline service until late in the conflict. The Tamiya 61117 kit provides the parts and detailing to recreate that variant with period-correct characteristics.
This Tamiya release offers well-engineered components that slot together with minimal fuss when following the instructions. It suits modellers who prefer clean assembly and historically accurate finishes. Once painted and decaled, the model makes an impressive exhibit for any display case.
