The Tamiya 69928 Centipede Robot brings a simple mechanical concept to life with its transparent orange body. Ideal for hobbyists and science activities, the kit showcases how linked legs and gearing produce coordinated walking motion.
Measured at roughly 400mm in length, 92mm in width, and 40mm in height, the model uses nine sets of fluorescent orange legs to create its distinctive stride. The package contains a head module, several body sections, a gearbox assembly, and a battery compartment arranged to mimic a centipede's movement.
The robot moves at around one meter per 15 seconds and will steer around objects it cannot climb over. Its underside design helps it reroute when confronted with obstacles, offering an interactive example of mechanical problem solving.
The drive is a Type 130 motor and the gearing aligns with Tamiya Mini 4WD parts, making it straightforward to try Grade-Up modifications. Builders can test different gear ratios or motor choices to change performance characteristics.
