The Tamiya 70178 Submarine Motor Mini is designed to make core mechanical and engineering ideas tangible. As part of Tamiya's STEM offerings, it demonstrates how thrust and steering work together in a simple, visible way.
This kit contains a mini motor inside a robust blue shell that turns a back-mounted propeller and moves a rudder. It is set up to let builders try different directions and observe how propulsion affects movement in water.
Putting the kit together is straightforward and does not call for specialist equipment. The motor only runs when the outer body is correctly closed, which helps prevent accidental activation. A suction cap is included for quick mounting and removal.
Primarily an educational tool, the Submarine Motor Mini also introduces younger makers to model building. The motor uses one AAA battery, sold separately.
