The Tamiya 70248 Roller Skating Robot gives builders a clear, practical way to study mechanical movement by assembling a working model. It is aimed at introducing foundational motion concepts in a classroom or at the hobby bench.
The robot uses a swizzle action where the legs open and close to produce locomotion, and small adjustable rudders on the skates let you change the turning bias. Choose the transparent blue body to watch the internals in action, or pick the white shell if you want to repaint and customise the look.
Parts are mostly snap-fit with a few screws so builds are simple for learners. The model runs on a Type 130 motor and takes one AA battery (sold separately), with a recorded speed of about 33.3 cm/s. For guided layouts, you can fit optional universal arms to run the unit along rails, sold separately.
