The Tamiya 71108 Mechanical Rabbit is a compact Robocraft build focused on motion exposure and straightforward construction. Colourful panels and visible mechanics make it a useful teaching aid for the fundamentals of linkages and gear interaction.
Semi-clear parts reveal the gearbox and moving elements so you can see how the mechanism works. The styling includes elongated ears and rounded contours for display appeal, and the assembly sequence balances snap-fit pieces with a few screws for secure joins.
A single R03/AAA/UM4 battery (not supplied) powers the motor, which sits with the battery holder at the front to improve balance. The rear actuators drive the hopping motion while front rollers keep the rabbit tracking smoothly.
The supplied guide fittings let you trial the rabbit on Mini 4WD tracks, but flat smooth floors are recommended for consistent hopping. When inactive it works well as a small display model showing moving internals.
