The Tamiya 71126 Mechanical Swimmer is a compact educational kit for anyone interested in basic robotics and mechanism design. By changing limb and head positions, you can switch between Freestyle, Butterfly and Backstroke to see how setup affects movement.
Power comes from a Submarine Motor Mini and an Underwater Gearbox that convert rotary motion into limb movement via crankarms. Rubber bands connect the drive to the arms, producing a convincing swim stroke while demonstrating linkages and torque transfer.
This snap-together model needs no tools, making it accessible for clubs and classrooms. It ships with a high-speed Submarine Motor Mini fitted with two O-rings to help limit water entry. Remember to provide one AAA battery, which is not included.
