The Tamiya 71201 Microcomputer Robot Construction Set provides a practical entry into robotics by combining mechanical assembly with microcomputer control. Its crawler configuration and ultrasonic sensor system let the BBC micro:bit detect obstacles while motor driver circuitry handles movement. This kit is well suited for classroom demos and hobby learning sessions.
The BBC micro:bit included in the kit comes with a preloaded program so the robot can operate right out of the box after assembly and battery installation. To extend learning, users can reprogram the micro:bit using the MakeCode visual editor on a computer, enabling custom behaviours and experiments.
Additional accessories are available separately to add remote control and other functions. Installing a second BBC micro:bit lets you build a simple remote transmitter to control the crawler and explore two-unit communication projects.
