Starter Robotics with the Tamiya 71202 Microcomputer Robot Kit

The Tamiya 71202 Microcomputer Robot Kit provides a compact, hands on route into basic robotics and programming. The wheeled chassis uses a BBC micro:bit along with an ultrasonic sensor and motor driver to navigate simple courses.

Features That Demonstrate Coding Concepts

The kit comes with a factory loaded program so the robot can detect obstacles with its ultrasonic sensor and instruct its motors to avoid them. Movement of the head and arms adds a tangible result to sensor input. For custom logic the BBC micro:bit can be edited through MakeCode to test new routines.

Expand With Remote Control

Adding a second BBC micro:bit (sold separately) allows remote operation and expands project possibilities, useful for paired exercises or demonstrations.

Yes, load your own programs into the BBC micro:bit using the MakeCode editor to alter behaviour or add sensors.
