Tamiya 74139 Engraving Blade Holder - Fine control for model finishing

The Tamiya 74139 Engraving Blade Holder is aimed at modellers who want consistent, controllable cuts when detailing RC kits. Its light construction and ergonomic profile help you work accurately on small-scale parts and trim panels.

Construction and grip

Built from robust aluminium, the holder has a knurled section to improve grip when performing delicate work. The slim profile feels like a pen in the hand, so long sessions of engraving are easier on the fingers. Blade swaps are quick thanks to the nickel-plated brass chuck which opens with a firm pinch and twist.

Which blades fit

This holder takes Tamiya Fine Engraving Blades (74135-38) and the Design Knife Blade (74074). That compatibility makes it flexible for scoring panel lines, adding texture, or cleaning up mould lines on both styrene and thinner materials.

Practical additions

The protective cap included with the tool shields the blade edge and prevents the holder from rolling away on your bench, making it a tidy and safe addition to a modelling kit bag.

Received exactly what I had order. Well package. Recommend.
Support the chuck, pinch firmly and rotate the handle to loosen. Remove the old blade using pliers or a holder, then insert the new blade and secure it. Always use gloves or a tool to handle blades if you are unsure.
This holder is designed for Tamiya Fine Engraving Blades and the listed Design Knife Blade. Some third-party blades with the same shank size may fit, but check fit and stability before using them on a project.
Use the correct blade for the material, avoid excessive pressure, and replace blades as soon as cutting becomes inconsistent. Clean plastic residue from the blade after each session to reduce dulling.
