The Reggiane Re.2002 served as a pragmatic development of the Re.2000 during the Second World War, fitted with an air-cooled engine and multiple machine guns for ground attack and fighter roles. It saw action in operations such as the Sicily campaign and later examples flew with Allied-aligned units after the armistice.
Tamiya's 1/48 release, with certain airframe components from Italeri, recreates the Re.2002's slim cowlings and compact fuselage. The built model measures about 170mm long with a 229mm wingspan and allows optional canopy assembly and movable flap settings to suit different display styles.
Included in the box are a 500kg drop tank plus airfield accessories like fuel drums and jerry cans for diorama builders. The set also contains a seated pilot figure and decal sheets covering Regia Aeronautica and Luftwaffe markings, together with a photographic reference manual for accurate painting and detailing.
