Tamiya item 89797 - Russian Tank Destroyer SU-85- w/Weathering Master Set - 1/35 scale Tanks Military Series assembly kit

During WWII, the Soviet built a self-propelled gun on the basis of the T-34 framework. The self propelled tool was called the SU-85. The "SU" abbreviation means "Samokhoknaya Ustanovka" what this means is "self-propelled weapon" and also the 85 represents the 85mm D-5T tool. The SU-85 had a crew of four men. Even though the SU-85 was in fact a self propelled gun, it had been well worth the title tank destroyer. The tank was indeed implemented in battle in December 1943 after the liberation of Kiev. The Russian military included 21 SU-85 vehicles into an artillery battalion under the control of corps and 31 into an artillery regiment for the tank army. By the mid 1940s, the Su-85 was indeed changed by the SU-100, which carried a 100m weapon.
