Baron Viento Japan Cup 2019 FM-A Model Kit by Tamiya 95120

This Tamiya 95120 Baron Viento Japan Cup 2019 edition merges commemorative graphics with practical Mini 4WD engineering. The FM-A chassis uses a front motor set-up and aerodynamic bodywork to cope with varied track profiles and lap demands.

Chassis tech and track behaviour

The FM-A layout concentrates weight forward for improved traction and stable corner entries on undulating tracks. Included are low-drag front skid bars plus a set of four rollers and beefy 8mm rear rollers to resist wobble at speed. The black ABS chassis is durable and grants easy access to the motor for quick swaps.

Appearance and trim

The body shell is moulded in black ABS and comes with a sticker sheet featuring the Japan Cup 2019 motif. It runs on red dish wheels fitted with super hard tyres, complete with white pad-printed sidewalls that give a clean race aesthetic while remaining hard-wearing.

Performance specs and mods

Factory specification pairs a Type 130 motor with a 3.5:1 gear ratio for a balance of acceleration and top speed. Two AA cells (sold separately) power the set-up, and a broad selection of Grade-Up Parts lets builders tailor handling and pace for competitive tuning.

  • Terrain Use: Mini 4WD track
Clean the body surface first and test sticker placement before peeling backing. Use a soft cloth to smooth decals and avoid bubbles; tweezers help position smaller pieces accurately.
The 3.5:1 gearing is a versatile choice for a mix of acceleration and top speed on standard Mini 4WD tracks. For tight technical tracks, consider gear and motor changes to prioritise torque.
Regularly clean dust from rollers and check for wear on tyres and bearings. A light application of silicone spray on roller shafts can reduce friction without harming ABS parts.
