This aluminium servo saver and tie rod set is an aftermarket replacement for the Tamiya CW-01 (Lunch Box) chassis, part LB024TM. It is made to reduce flex in the steering linkage and uses a replaceable 24T splined saver instead of the usual plastic unit.
The saver cushions impact loads to the steering gear while the aluminium tie rod gives a long-lasting steering connection. During installation check the servo spline alignment and ensure the tie rod ends are fastened correctly to avoid any binding in the steering geometry.
Installation notes: remove the original saver and tie rod, transfer any necessary spacers or ball cups, then mount the aluminium saver on the servo spline and hook up the aluminium tie rod to the steering knuckles. Verify full travel and centre position prior to operation, and re-check fastener torque after the initial running session.
Tuning notes: a firmer aluminium saver and tie rod reduce steering play and improve feedback under load, but they can pass greater shock forces into the servo. When moving from plastic to aluminium components consider softer steering elements elsewhere or a servo with adequate continuous torque.
