Overview of the DT-03 Aluminum Steering Upgrade

The JR-DT309-GU upgrade swaps the DT-03's original plastic servo saver and link rods for an aluminum hi-torque 25T servo saver and precision tie rods. It is intended as an aftermarket tuning item to reduce steering slop on the TAMIYA DT-03 chassis and to provide a more direct linkage from servo output to the steering knuckles.

This kit is compatible only with DT-03 based assemblies. Note that the servo saver uses a 25T spline; verify your servo output spline matches 25T or obtain a spline adapter if necessary. The aluminum tie rods are aimed at lowering flex under load to repeat steering inputs more consistently.

For installation, remove the stock saver and rods, move over any necessary bearings or spacers, and install the aluminum parts so they sit true to the steering geometry. Check full lock-to-lock for binding and retighten fasteners after the first run.

Confirm your chassis is a DT-03 variant and that the stock steering geometry can accept the aluminum saver and rods without interference.
Aluminum reduces flex which can transfer higher loads to ball joints and knuckles; inspect those parts regularly and replace worn items to avoid binding.
Keep threads clean and lightly lubricated where appropriate, torque fasteners to spec, and periodically check for play or corrosion to extend the life of the JR-DT309-GU components.
