Split upper deck solution for TRF421

The Factory Pro O-TCP003 split upper deck is made to suit the Tamiya TRF421 platform. It employs a 2mm graphite plate in a softer layup to subtly alter chassis flex and mid-corner behaviour without requiring other structural changes.

Used as a tuning component, the split deck modifies how the chassis front and rear share loads through a corner. Drivers use it to balance understeer versus oversteer and to control transient response when flicking the car. The softer graphite adds compliance in a predictable way while keeping original mounting points intact.

Installation is simple for anyone familiar with touring car maintenance: remove the original upper deck, transfer mounting hardware as needed, and secure the split deck to the existing screw points. Double-check clearances around the servo, motor and suspension before final torqueing to avoid rubbing or interference.

What benefit does the soft graphite bring on track?

The softer graphite allows a bit more chassis flex where you need it, improving mid-corner grip and making the car less nervous during direction changes, especially on low bite surfaces.

Is trimming or drilling required to fit this deck?

Not normally. The split deck is cut to suit stock fixing points, but inspect hole alignment and any close components during mock-up to ensure a clean fit.

Will I need to change setup after fitting the deck?

Yes, re-checking roll centre, shock length and toe is recommended as the altered flex can shift balance; small spring or damping tweaks may be beneficial.
