This ready-finished 1/48 model represents an early production Tiger I and is supplied fully assembled and painted, intended for collectors and display use within Tamiya's military range.

The Tiger I entered service in 1942 as a heavy German tank built to provide dominant firepower and protection. Armed with the 88 mm KwK 36 gun and heavy frontal armor, it operated on the Eastern, Western, Italian and North African fronts. Early production vehicles produced between late 1942 and mid 1943 are recognisable by features such as the tall cylindrical commander's cupola and turret pistol ports.
