Aluminium gearbox shell for heavy use

This aftermarket aluminium cover is made for the TRAXXAS 1/8 X-Maxx chassis and acts as a direct replacement for the factory plastic gearbox outer. Fitting it gives a metal outer shell that is more resistant to flex during hard off-road running.

Intended for hobbyist use on the specified TRAXXAS platform, the cover mounts to the existing points and replaces the stock cover. Its primary benefit is improved rigidity and a durable mounting face for the gearbox assembly when pushing the model in rough conditions.

To fit, remove the original cover and secure this aluminium unit in the same holes. Confirm gear alignment and clearances before final tightening, and check bearings and seals after assembly. The design assumes use with the original gearbox components on the TRAXXAS 1/8 X-Maxx.

Yes, it is made to work with the stock gearbox arrangement on the TRAXXAS 1/8 X-Maxx and replaces the original outer cover directly.
Not required, but it is a good opportunity to inspect and service bearings and lubricants while the gearbox is open.
There is some added weight compared to plastic, but the tradeoff is increased strength; it rarely affects handling for typical bashing and trail use.
Recheck fastener torque, inspect gear mesh and bearing seating, and look for any signs of contact or rubbing inside the gearbox.
