Overview of the CVD driveset

This replacement driveset is tailored for TRAXXAS MAXX platforms that have been widened with +20mm hubs. The unit replaces cross-head outputs with adjustable CVD swing joints to deliver more direct drive to the wheels while maintaining a lightweight 6061 T6 aluminium hub and hardened steel joint pins.

The upgrade increases axle diameter from the stock 6mm to a stronger 8mm to resist twisting under load, and the adjustable length lets you correct toe and camber after the track has been widened. The required 8x16x5 bearings are supplied to match the thicker shafts.

Use case: this kit handles gearbox to wheel torque for MAXX vehicles running +20mm widening, and gives the adjustability needed to restore correct suspension geometry and wheel alignment.

Compatible Models

  • MAXX +20mm widening kits

For widened TRAXXAS MAXX owners seeking a firmer, tuneable front and rear driveline, this kit supplies hardened steel CVDs with an aluminium body and beefed-up 8mm axle; double-check bearing seating and suspension travel when fitting to avoid binding.

The kit is specified for +20mm widening. Using different offset hubs may require additional modifications to maintain correct drive angles and clearance.
The box contains the two CVD shafts, hex adapters, wheel locks, set screws, two 8x16x5 bearings, two locating pins and two screw pins as listed in the packing section.
Gearing remains unchanged, but the stiffer driveshafts and corrected track width can affect handling feel; recheck suspension geometry and perform a test drive to dial settings.
Ensure the CVD joints rotate freely through full suspension travel and that set screws are secured with a small amount of threadlocker; confirm wheel hex alignment after adjusting length.
