Aftermarket hard-steel gears for T-Maxx diffs

The STMX1202 kit is a replacement gear set intended for TRAXXAS T-Maxx 1 and T-Maxx 3.3 differentials. It contains hardened steel gear components to replace stripped or worn internals, plus shims and O-rings to re-establish correct clearance and sealing. The package is supplied as a 6 pcs set to cover one internal gear train.

Marketed as an aftermarket upgrade for TRAXXAS T-Maxx platforms, these gears are intended for hobby RC applications only. Installers should verify mesh and shim thickness during assembly, check case alignment, and inspect bearings and seals. The included O-rings are for internal sealing where required, and shims let you fine tune backlash for consistent engagement.

Specifications

  • Item: Hard steel gear set for differential assembly
  • Material: Hard steel
  • Model Number: STMX1202
  • Includes: 6 pcs, shims and O-rings
  • Compatibility: TRAXXAS T-Maxx 1 / T-Maxx 3.3

STMX1202 supplies a simple, durable gear swap for TRAXXAS T-Maxx differentials where metal gears are preferred for longer wear life.

If the case is modified, check that internal clearances and bearing positions match the original specification before installing the gears to avoid misalignment.
Most builds will be fine with the included shims, but competitive setups may require fine tuning of shim stacks to suit altered driveline forces.
The metal gears change wear characteristics compared to plastic; they do not alter differential geometry but can affect maintenance intervals and noise under certain loads.
After assembly, spin the diff to confirm smooth rotation, recheck backlash, and inspect seals and bearings for free movement before reinstalling the unit.
