Heavy-duty motor mount for TRX4 crawlers

This aluminium double-sided motor mount plate has been developed for use with TRAXXAS TRX4 Trail Crawler chassis. Heat sink fins on both sides increase passive cooling area to help keep motor temperatures lower during prolonged crawling sessions.

The manufacturer specifies a 13mm plate thickness, 8mm more than the original, to improve structural rigidity and move the motor slightly forward for enhanced low-speed traction. Included hardware consists of stainless steel flat head screws 3x14, 2pcs for securing the mount.

The unit replaces the stock motor mount at chassis level while preserving the original motor and gearbox placement. The extra mass and stiffer mount reduce motor movement under torque, improving predictability during technical crawling.

Will I need new motor hardware to use this plate?

The package supplies two 3x14 stainless flat head screws for the mount, but confirm your motor's existing screw pattern and length to avoid thread or clearance issues.

How does added thickness change motor behaviour?

Increased thickness raises stiffness and moves the motor forward slightly, which can stabilise the drive under slow, high-torque conditions common in rock crawling.

Is there any trimming required for installation?

Most TRX4 chassis accept the plate without trimming, but check for tight spots around the gearbox and motor before final installation.

Are the fins effective without a fan?

The fins provide passive heat dissipation which helps during slow-speed use; active cooling still depends on airflow and driving style, so results vary by setup.
