The Trumpeter 1/35 German 2cm Flakvierling 38 Auf Selbstfahrlafette (Sd.Kfz.7/1 early version) reproduces a notable WWII anti-aircraft vehicle with careful attention to period detail. Modellers will find the kit suits those wanting a historically grounded display subject.
The Flakvierling 38 was ordered into service in 1939 to strengthen Luftwaffe air defence. It was fitted to an 8-ton Zugkraftwagen chassis and used a central pivot mounting that was later stabilised with base supports. From around 1942 some mounts carried light armour to give crews extra protection against small arms fire.
Trumpeter's 1/35 kit balances detailed moulding with practical assembly steps, giving modellers a satisfying project. Finished dimensions are 285mm long, 69mm wide and 101.8mm high, and the sprues include the hull and track parts needed to complete an accurate scale model.
