The Vickers Wellington Mk.1C was a significant early WWII twin-engine bomber from Vickers-Armstrongs, conceived by R.K. Pierson. Famous for its geodetic construction, the real aircraft combined light weight with structural strength; the Trumpeter 01626 kit mirrors those traits in miniature for model builders who value historical accuracy.
The Wellington Mk.1C flew many early RAF sorties and saw production numbers above 2,600. A typical crew numbered six, and the type mounted eight 7.7mm machine guns with a bomb load capability exceeding 2,000 kg. This kit reproduces the aircraft's scale proportions, reflecting a wingspan of 86 feet 2 inches and length of 64 feet 7 inches and its operational performance up to about 235 mph and a range of about 2,550 miles.
This 1/72 kit includes 192 plastic components arranged on 10 sprues, providing a detailed build that includes optional flaps and decals for 149 Squadron RAF, Suffolk 1940 (P9245/OJ-W). Finished, the model displays the Wellington's distinctive form and makes an effective shelf or diorama subject.
