The USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) is a prominent example of modern destroyer design, named after Admiral Arleigh Albert Burke. As the class lead it set new standards in capability and layout. Construction began in 1988, the ship was launched in 1989 and entered service in 1991, featuring modern propulsion and combat systems.
This 1/350 scale kit from Trumpeter captures the ship's silhouette and onboard fittings with careful moulding. With a finished length around 439mm and many small components, the kit provides hands-on assembly that appeals to hobbyists who value layered detail.
The actual Arleigh Burke displaces roughly 8,885 tons and can reach speeds above 30 knots thanks to four LM2500-30 turbines. The model includes representations of the Mk 41 VLS and the Phalanx CIWS to mirror the ship's defensive suite.
