The Trumpeter 1/350 HMS Abercrombie monitor kit recreates the wartime vessel with careful detailing suited to scale shipbuilders. The model reflects the ship's unique design and offers a concentrated build that rewards patience and precision.
Commissioned into operations in the Mediterranean, HMS Abercrombie took part in the Sicily and Salerno landings in 1943 and received battle honours for those actions. The monitor carried a turret originally from HMS Furious and mounted two 15-inch guns, later serving in non-combat roles before being retired in 1954.
Designed for those comfortable with complex assemblies, the kit comprises more than 480 parts and includes delicate photo-etched elements and a metal anchor chain for realism. The split hull and supplied display stand with engraved plate make it straightforward to prepare for shelf display.
