HMS Zulu was a Tribal-class destroyer launched in 1937 by A. Stephens & Sons in Glasgow, notable for being completed with boilers and funnels already in place. Commissioned in 1938, she earned a reputation as a 'lucky ship' and later saw action that included involvement in the pursuit of the Bismarck.
After entering service, HMS Zulu operated out of the Mediterranean and was stationed in Malta. In 1941 she underwent a refit at Falmouth where radar gear was fitted and depth charge throwers were repositioned. In 1942 damage from Italian coastal guns and air attacks led to her sinking near Alexandria.
The Trumpeter 1:700 kit captures signature features like the HF direction-finding gear and twin 2-pounder guns, offering a compact yet accurate build. The model is well suited to modellers who enjoy careful detail painting and small-scale rigging.
