The Trumpeter 06217 Yak-141 Freestyle brings a compact representation of Soviet naval VTOL development to the workbench. The 1:350 rendition gives modellers a faithful miniature of the prototype that fits well into carrier deck dioramas or small cabinets.
Developed as a VTOL testbed, the Yak-141 showcased inventive engineering with lift engines and swivelling exhausts. The kit mirrors those distinctive traits, including folding wings and a see-through canopy, helping convey the aircraft's intended operational role.
This kit measures 50mm long and spans 29mm across the wings, and it comes on six sprues to provide the necessary parts. The gray fuselage parts and black landing gear give a solid base for paint, while the clear canopy offers a crisp view into the cockpit once assembled.
