This injection-moulded 1:72 scale model recreates the Japanese Type 74 main battle tank as a small tracked subject suitable for collectors and diorama builders.
Developed in the mid 1960s and finalised in 1974, the Type 74 entered production in 1975 and was produced through 1990. Around 870 vehicles were completed, and the design served as the Japan Self-Defense Forces' primary domestic tank during much of the Cold War period.
The kit focuses on accurate external shapes at 1:72 scale and is supplied on multiple sprues for assembly. Builders should expect to use typical small-scale armour techniques when fitting hull and turret components and when cleaning seams. Interior detail is not a feature here; modelers aiming for higher fidelity should reference photos for paint and finishing. Two decal marking options are provided, noted in the specifications below.
A neat-scale plastic rendition of the Type 74 intended for display or small-scene modelling, offering a straightforward build and basic marking options.
