The Trumpeter 05742 kit renders the heavy cruiser USS New Orleans CA-32 in 1:700 scale, modelled in the 1942 configuration. Builders can select between waterline presentation or a complete full-hull assembly to suit display preferences.
The New Orleans class comprised the last set of interwar "Treaty" heavy cruisers completed in the interval between the two world wars. Ships of this class shared a common external silhouette and displaced around 10,136 tons standard and approximately 12,436 tons at wartime full load once additional radar, electronics, and anti-aircraft fittings were installed. These cruisers saw active service in the Pacific theatre, taking part in many engagements with several vessels remaining operational after 1942.
The kit concentrates on external fidelity and display options. It includes multi-piece upper and lower hull components plus a separate waterline plate for choice of presentation. Masts, superstructure components and many smaller fittings are injection-molded on multiple sprues. The decal sheet reproduces the MS21 camouflage pattern used in 1942 and clear instructions guide assembly and painting for display or diorama use.
Suited to display-oriented modellers and collectors, this kit offers realistic external detail together with flexible presentation choices.
