Sturdy Aluminium Shock Cap Retainer

The Yokomo YOKBDS3 aluminium damper retainer serves as an aftermarket replacement to hold shock caps and retainers in place on small RC dampers. It is a straightforward machined aluminium piece that organizes the interface between the shock cap and upper suspension mount while leaving internal damper components unchanged.

Installation is simple: verify shock cap diameter and piston rod clearance before fitting, insert the retainer, then tighten using the vehicle's existing fasteners. The retainer enhances alignment and repeatability so the shock cap seats reliably after setup and routine servicing.

In track or field tuning, using a rigid aluminium retainer helps limit tiny movements at the cap joint, aiding consistent oil sealing and stable shim stack behavior over multiple runs. Regular inspection of threads and light lubrication on contact surfaces will help maintain performance and reduce wear.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Its main purpose is to keep the shock cap aligned with the upper mount so the seal and shim stack remain consistent run after run.
Compare your shock cap outside diameter and ensure there is sufficient piston rod clearance; those two checks determine correct fitment.
Clean mating surfaces, hand-start fasteners to avoid cross-threading, and torque to the original specification to secure the retainer without stressing the damper bodies.
