Fine-tune shock response with R12-37SS

The Yokomo R12-37SS is a soft-rate replacement coil made for X-style shocks on R12 and GT series 1/10-scale RC platforms. It is intended as a tuning item to soften initial compression and modify rebound feel, enabling more precise chassis balance control while keeping existing shock pistons and oil unchanged.

Basic installation is quick for anyone familiar with shock maintenance: take off the shock cap and spring retainer, remove the current spring, fit the R12-37SS ensuring correct seating on the shaft, then reassemble and confirm preload. A steady bench and common shock tools make the job faster and safer.

On the track the softer spring often delivers:

  • Better mechanical traction on slippery surfaces through increased initial compliance.
  • A smoother response over small undulations for improved mid-corner stability.
  • Compatibility with reduced preload or softer oil to dial in roll and turn-in characteristics.

Choose this spring when you want smoother weight transfer and a more progressive suspension feel after other setup items like anti-roll bars and ride height have been adjusted.

Remark :

Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Expect increased initial grip and a gentler onset of roll. The softer rate soaks small bumps and can make turn-in feel more fluid, though overall body roll may increase.
Softer springs change the load distribution the anti-roll bars see. You may need to stiffen or soften bar rates to restore the desired roll balance after fitting the R12-37SS.
Use the spring when you want to alter spring curve and initial compliance without affecting damping. Changing oil affects damping speed; choose the approach that targets the behavior you want to change.
