The RD-630P is a purpose-built, lightweight spur gear hub intended as a direct replacement on Yokomo RD, SD, and MD drift platforms. Its increased diameter positions the spur nearer to the gear case, which reduces vibration and supports a steadier mesh under the side loads that drifting generates.
This closer positioning reduces lateral force on the top shaft during heavy throttle or sudden inputs, giving a more consistent acceleration sensation. The hub form helps retain the spur more reliably and smooths the drive rotation for fewer abrupt impulses.
Note that when swapping the RD-630P for the original spur gear hubs (such as Y4-630A, Y2-630PA, Y2-630RA), the set-screw mounting point is different. You may need the matching RD-631 aluminum top shaft to ensure the screw lines up for secure fastening.
The RD-630P is recommended where reduced vibration and stronger spur retention are priorities; verify set-screw alignment and fit the RD-631 top shaft if necessary to secure the hub correctly.
