The Yokomo YOKSG4880 is a 48-pitch spur gear with 80 teeth, supplied as a direct replacement for 48-pitch gear trains used in electric RC models. As a drivetrain element it determines engagement with the motor pinion and has a direct influence on gear ratio, running noise and wear behaviour.
Installation notes: press or slide the spur gear onto the gearbox output shaft or hub following your chassis layout, ensure the gear sits square and that any set screws or retaining fasteners are torqued to the manufacturer's guidelines. Inspect spur-to-pinion mesh and aim for an even, small backlash to prevent premature wear or binding. Manually rotate the drivetrain after fitting to confirm smooth contact before applying power.
Tuning role and maintenance: fitting an 80-tooth spur raises overall gear ratio which typically increases low end torque while reducing top speed compared to a smaller spur. Check gear teeth regularly for chips or irregular wear and confirm bearings and gearbox alignment remain serviceable to protect gear life.
