Spring Specification for Pitch Control

The Yokomo YOKYX-40SS serves as a dedicated RC-scale spring for pitching-damp shock units. It is offered as a tuning or replacement option where pitch control of the chassis is a tuning goal. The silver finish is intended purely for appearance to suit model styling.

To fit the spring, remove the shock cap, compress the assembly as required, slide the spring over the damper shaft and seat it on the spring retainer or lower perch. After fitting, confirm that the spring is seated correctly and set the required preload to ensure smooth, full travel without binding.

In setup terms, switching spring stiffness affects pitch: a firmer rate resists nose dive and reduces pitch under braking or acceleration, while a softer rate gives more pitch motion and a gentler initial response. Combine spring choice with damper oil and piston selection to achieve the desired balance, then test changes on the track to evaluate handling.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Yes. It is made for general pitching-damp style shock assemblies and will fit common shock shafts and perches used in those designs.
No special tools are required beyond standard shock service tools. Follow normal shock disassembly procedures, slide the spring into position, set preload, and reassemble.
Alterations in spring rate change how the chassis pitches; match rate changes with damper oil and piston selections to maintain balance and then evaluate on practice runs.
