These RC-scale drive shims are designed to provide accurate control of axial positioning and lateral spacing in model drivetrains. As thin spacer washers, they sit between mating gears or between a gear and its bearing surface to correct slack, prevent binding, and refine gear alignment without swapping major parts.
Fitting is simple on most hobby drivetrains: take off the affected gear, place one or more shims to alter the axial position, then refit and inspect gear mesh while turning slowly. Slight changes in shim thickness can have a clear effect on audible noise, wear behavior, and drivetrain responsiveness, so adjust incrementally and verify clearance after each change.
When tuning, these shims are an economical way to fine-tune engagement to achieve quieter running or reduced backlash. They are intended only for use on model RC drivetrains and for incremental bench or track setup adjustments.
