Glass Mesh Reinforcement for RC Shells

The Yokomo YT-GMTA Body Protective Tape supplies a strip of glass mesh to reinforce the inside of RC shells. At 50mm wide and 2000mm long, the roll is handy for targeted strengthening on touring, off road and custom bodies.

How to Fit and Harden the Mesh

The tape features adhesive backing so you can cut it to length and adhere it where extra support is needed. To ensure the mesh sets into a firm repair, apply a reinforcing adhesive like Shoe Goo over the tape so it cures into a strong patch.

When to Use This Tape

Use this tape to protect wheel arches, side pods and other high stress zones from repeated impacts. It is also a straightforward option for mending small cracks and worn areas without rebuilding the whole shell.

Can I use the tape on curved sections?

Yes. Trim the tape into narrower strips to follow tight curves and press firmly so the adhesive conforms to the shape before applying a reinforcing coat.

Will the adhesive hold in wet conditions?

The adhesive bonds well under normal conditions, but sealing the mesh with a reinforcing glue improves resistance to moisture and long term wear.

Is this suitable for lightweight race shells?

Yes, when applied sparingly it adds reinforcement without significant weight. Focus on high stress areas to keep the shell light while improving durability.
