Track Focused Engineering in the Tamiya 42200 TRF417

The Tamiya 42200 TRF417 brings TRF level detail to a 1/10 touring car chassis, built for tuners and racers who favour setup control. The kit includes the Gear Differential Unit II to help smooth power delivery during competition.

Drive Train and Suspension Notes

The TRF417 uses a 4WD dual belt drive to transfer torque evenly to all wheels while its adjustable suspension allows fine tuning for camber, toe and anti-squat. Carbon reinforced plastic elements paired with aluminium parts keep weight down and preserve chassis rigidity for consistent handling.

Proven Differential and Battery Options

Featuring the Gear Differential Unit II that saw competition use in international events, the TRF417 delivers improved traction and predictable throttle response. Both LiPo and LiFe hard case battery packs are supported to suit different race strategies.

The Tamiya 42200 TRF417 is a solid platform for racers who want a tunable, durable chassis that responds well to incremental setup changes.

The layout accepts conventional 1/10 touring car electronics, with room for compact ESCs and radio gear. Plan servo placement and battery position to balance the car.
Common wear items like belts, bearings and shocks are readily available; using genuine replacement parts ensures fit and performance.
Clean debris from the belt runs and diff, check fasteners for tightness, and inspect suspension links for play to keep handling consistent.
The TRF417 performs well with foam or rubber tyres made for 1/10 touring cars; select compounds based on track temperature and surface grip.
