Suzuki's SX4 made a bold step into the World Rally Championship as a compact five-door that was reworked into a rally car with a wider stance, enhanced suspension and a turbocharged 300hp engine. Its first outing at the 2008 Monte Carlo Rally with drivers Toni Gardemeister and Per-Gunnar Andersson showed the model could score championship points.
The Tamiya 58408 adopts the TT-01 Type-E chassis and brings practical refinements. Fiberglass reinforced resin is used for the new A Parts and D Parts to improve strength and ease repairs. The steering linkage benefits from TA05 steering posts for sharper turn-in, and the revised upper deck improves overall chassis rigidity while providing a transponder mount for timed events.
The polycarbonate SX4 WRC body in this kit is formed to be lightweight yet true to the rally shape, and it includes injection molded mirrors and a rear wing. Metal-plated light housings accept LEDs for realistic illumination. An ESC (TEU-101BK) and a Type 540 motor are included so the core drivetrain is ready once you install your radio and battery.
Tamiya 58408 suits modellers who value an authentic rally body paired with a tunable, resilient chassis. It is adaptable for track days or club-level competition after basic upgrades.
